How It Works
- Together for Good is an outside organization that partners with community organizations to identify families (often single moms) in distress. Some need consistent respite time away from their children; others are struggling with addictions, job losses or emotional, medical or mental health crises that require extended care for their kids. The needs vary, but the desperation is real when parents feel isolated and lack support networks in their community.
- Those families are connected with volunteers from our church. By building relationships and stepping out in obedient faith, we serve isolated parents and vulnerable children with help, hope and friendship.
Ways You Can Serve
BECOME A HOST FAMILY
Open up your home to host children for a few hours a month, over a weekend, or maybe for a longer-term hosting of a few months. Provide the loving, stable environment the kids need, while their parents take the time they need to get help.
BECOME A PARENT ADVOCATE
Come alongside Together for Good parents through friendship and prayer. Meet with a matched participant parent twice per month, either in person or on the phone. Serve in a variety of ways, such as bringing an occasional meal, helping with a job application or simply being a friend who listens. While there are greater needs for women, male volunteers are needed, too.
PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR HOST FAMILIES
Give wrap-around support to host and participant families as needs arise, including things like supplies, gift cards, meals, and help with transportation or babysitting.
